Dear 6th Grade Parents and Guardians,

Your current sixth grader will soon be a seventh grader and continue his/her journey of learning at John H. Walker Middle School in the 2025-2026 school year.

To prepare for this important transition, you are cordially invited to attend our Scheduling Program/Parent Orientation for current sixth grade parents and guardians.

The event will take place in the JHWMS Auditorium on Monday, April 7th at 6:30PM.  Over the course of the evening, you will hear from each academic department regarding their course of study.  Information will be presented that will assist in making course selections for seventh grade.  We will also walk you through the scheduling process to support you through the transition from sixth to seventh grade as well as discuss the importance of the Middle School Philosophy and our approach to fostering continued growth.

This particular presentation is geared towards parents.  We will also be sharing this information with sixth grade students on April 9th, when all of the sixth graders, district wide, will attend a similar presentation at JHWMS.  This will occur during the school day.

We look forward to your participation in this important program!

Please enter through the front doors (Franklin Ave Entrance), and remember that Nutley Public School’s Permitted Items Policy (attached) is in effect.

Best Regards,

Joseph Materia
