Dear Parents, Guardians and Families,

I hope all our families are enjoying the last few days of summer vacation.

This week, we welcomed our 7th and 9th graders to the middle school and high school for their orientations, where they saw the buildings and met the administrators and staff. We are excited to welcome all our students back to the buildings for the first day of school on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 for a single session day. A link to the 24-25 calendar can be found here.

There is no question that the 2023-2024 school year was a challenging one for the district. This spring, we went through many changes and this summer, we began to rebuild. I am excited to embark on a new year.

We are excited to welcome Mr. Michael DeVita to the district as our Business Administrator. He began last Monday. We are also excited to welcome Mrs. Jackie Devore to the role of Principal of Lincoln School. Mrs. Devore was appointed at Monday night’s Board of Education meeting and will begin the new school year at Lincoln School.

District security remains our top priority as we focus daily on keeping our staff and students safe. Each building will continue to have one or more dedicated security officers on site.

This year we look forward to supporting our students by continuing our social and emotional curriculum (CKCC/RULER). We will also build off of last year's progress in establishing district- wide, multi-tiered systems of support to improve not only academics, but attendance, and social and emotional wellbeing.

At the secondary level, all of our electives, athletics and extracurricular offerings are available to students, as well as a full complement of AP courses, with expansion in AP Computer Science programming.

We look to partner with the Township to launch E-Sports initiatives, as well as support our students in crisis by continuing our work with clinicians from Rutgers Behavioral Mental Health Services.

This year will see over 200 students enter our state-funded high-quality “Raising Raiders” preschool, as well as a continuation of a departmentalized approach in 5th and 6th grade, which received positive feedback from teachers and parents, as well as positive outcomes for students.

We look forward to welcoming our parents to our buildings at the scheduled Open House nights this September. Dates and details for these events will be communicated by building principals.

We look forward to seeing our students back in our classrooms on Wednesday, September 4.

Sincerely,

Mr. Kent Bania, Superintendent of Schools
