We understand that our students and families are managing many emotions surrounding the anticipation of the upcoming school year, and facing challenges at the community, family and individual levels as well.  As a part of our plan to support our community, we have scheduled wellness programming events beginning next week and encourage you to attend.

First, Lisa Athan, the Founder and Executive Director of Grief Speaks, will be holding an informational session for parent/guardian(s) prior to the return to school.  In her session, Lisa will introduce strategies to support the emotional needs of children and how to manage the various stressors impacting parents and families today.  Please click here for a link to a short trailer from Lisa where she introduces herself and what will be covered in her session.

To attend, please follow this link to participate in a google meet from 7:00-8:30pm on Tuesday, August 25th.

In addition, Lisa Athan will be returning to the district monthly to provide support groups to families. Different from the informational session, these will be focused on helping students and families process their emotions and provide a space for community members to connect with one other. You are invited to join this support group as a parent/guardian or with your child/children. Lisa encourages families to attend together.

To attend the September group, please follow this link to participate in a google meet from 6:00-7:00pm on Tuesday, September 15th.

Visit our Wellness Programs Page for more information on upcoming events and services.  Schedules, event descriptions, and links to the virtual sessions will be housed on that page and will be updated as more events are offered.  In addition, pre-recorded programs and invitations to additional support services from our valued community partners including: Imagine, Nutley Family Service Bureau, and the Traumatic Loss Coalition will also be shared.  We will continue to plan for ongoing support services and wellness programs to meet the changing needs of our community throughout the year.  Please feel free to reach directly with any feedback on our programming options or ideas for future events.
