Dear NHS Parents/Guardians and Students,

On behalf of the Nutley High School staff, I welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year.  We look forward to starting the year as well as sending off the 155th Senior Class (of 2025) in June!

The first day of school will be a single session on September 4, 20234 at 8:05 AM (Zero Period will not meet on the first day).  Students will report to homeroom at the beginning of the school day. September 5th and 6th will be full days for all students.

The Parent/Student Portal is open.  Please check the portal for homeroom assignments and information.  An email from Mrs. Gerckens was sent on August 28th containing information on schedule change procedures.

The bell schedule for the first day of school is attached to this email.  Also attached to this email, you will find the letter day calendar.

For new families and students, please be advised that Nutley High operates on a Rotating Drop Schedule.  For those who are not familiar with the rotating drop schedule, please watch the following video.

The doors will open daily at 7:45 AM.  Freshmen and Sophomores are to enter from the cafeteria doors in the teacher’s parking lot.  Juniors and Seniors are to enter from the New Street doors closest to Franklin Avenue. DO NOT DROP OFF STUDENTS IN THE TEACHER PARKING LOT!  Upon entering the building, students are asked to proceed to their homerooms for their schedules and important information.  Homeroom information is available on the Parent/Student Portal.

As a reminder, NHS is an open campus and students are allowed to leave school grounds during the community lunch hour.  Any parent who does not want their child to leave school grounds must notify the main office in writing at nhsmainoffice@nutleyschools.org.

The updated NHS Student Handbook has been posted on our website.  Please be sure to review this in order to become familiar with important procedures and policies.

The NHS Open House will be held on Thursday, September 26th. More details to follow.

Each student’s journey starts with a first step - let’s walk together this year to ensure their success!

Be Well, Talk Soon!
