Today, we received word from the New Jersey Department of Education regarding next Tuesday’s Primary Election Day (June 7th) and schools that are open for public voting. Due to the increased number of individuals entering school facilities used to vote during school hours, those districts with school facilities that are polling locations are encouraged to explore the option of virtual or remote instruction within the parameters of N.J.S.A. 18A:7f-9.
Â
Based on this guidance and the district’s increased focus on security and safety, Radcliffe, Spring Garden and Nutley High School, our three district voting locations, will transition to a virtual learning day and operate on a single session schedule for Tuesday, June 7, 2022.Â
Â
Lincoln, Washington, Yantacaw and John Walker Middle School will have a full, in-person day on Tuesday, June 7th.
Â
All buildings will meet all statutory requirements set by the state and therefore, this virtual instruction day will count toward the 180-day requirement.
Â
Teachers and staff in Radcliffe, Spring Garden and NHS will provide Google Meet links for their classes for all students to access on Tuesday, June 7. Â
Â
Extended Day and all after school activities at Radcliffe, Spring Garden and NHS are canceled on Tuesday, June 7th. The NHS Scholarship Night will move locations to John H. Walker Middle School and will still be held on Tuesday, June 7th.
Â
We understand that some students may have technology issues and we ask that all make their best attempts on this day. Principals and teachers will share more information on Monday.
Â
We recognize that this procedure is out of the ordinary and we appreciate your cooperation during this transition as we work within the state’s guidance in an effort to keep all safe.Â
Â
Thank you.Â
The Nutley Public School District
